Description

Small plant growing in strong clusters producing attractive long, red-flowering bracts in early spring. Grows up to 1m tall and 1m wide, sometimes clumping up to 4m wide. Flowering starts between 10-15 years. Enjoys coastal and forest environs. Hardy in rocky sandy ground, likes high sunlight. Frost tender. Needs plenty of water and free draining soil. Can be grown in pots and should be allowed to become root bound. Endemic to the Poor Knights, and Taranga Island in the Hen and Chickens Island group.
