Description

A slower-growing sturdy upright tree with spreading crown reaching up to 12m height. Needs good quality well-drained soils to thrive. Bright green oval leaves up to 15cm long. Dioecious. Flowers in small clusters of fragrant yellowish blooms during spring. 2cm-long deep red fruit matures a year later and attracts birds. Yields tough, high quality medium-density hardwood. Used medicinally by Maori and settlers.
