Sirocco (Metrosideros excelsa x robusta) – A hardy coastal evergreen natural hybrid between Pohutukawa (Metrosideros excelsa) and Northern Rata (Metrosideros robusta), Sirocco attains up to 12m at maturity. Flowers dusty-crimson blooms December through January, which are frequented by nectar-eating birds. Dark green lanceolate leather-like leaves. When mature tolerates moderate frost, drought, wind and salt. Thrives on sunny well-drained soils.
