10 Quick Steps for Successful Planting

Here are 10 Quick & Easy Steps for successfully planting plants and trees in your garden

  1. Prior to planting, consider the location and soil type and choose best the species from our website information

  2. Prepare a hole only about 10% larger than the size of the bag, so that the rootball can be firm in the hole when released from its bag

  3. If yours is received in a hessian wrap (see our Propots article for tips), place the tree as received into the hole

  4. If yours have received a bag, slit the bag with a sharp knife right around the base, to remove the bottom of the bag

  5. Place the tree, still in the bag, into the hole

  6. Reach down and cut the side of the bag from bottom to top, and remove the rest of the bag

  7. Stabilise the tree into the soil, but not too hard

  8. Add stakes and a windbreak if necessary

  9. Tie the tree to the stakes

  10. Water and mulch the plant. Big trees must be watered throughout summer, especially their first summer after planting.
