Attractive small forest tree. Slow to 2m@10years, maximum of 15m. Tolerant of relatively infertile soils on exposed ridges, around bogmargins, and on other poorly drained land. Prefers free draining, moist soil with cool root system, but the tree in full sun. From Ruapehu north, (but cultivated south to Christchurch). Attractive broad foliage with distinctly whorled branches. Beautiful tree, if slow ! Often Dioecious

Shipping rates are automatically calculated based on the number and size of plants you purchase and the location we are shipping to, so shipping rates vary.
Delivery
Typical delivery times range from 5 to 7 business days, although it can take up to 10 business days depending on the destination.
Some 45L grade trees have been grown in our Propots, and then transferred into hessian wraps for shipment. (Trees in hessian should go straight into the ground with hessian wraps intact)
Most orders are sent to the designated address on our regular tree carrier companies, but some orders are shipped via courier track and trace service (no signature required)
We cannot deliver to PO Box addresses.
Some trees are delivered on our own transport, while others are by third party delivery.
Additional Delivery Information
In summer, we ensure that trees are thoroughly watered before they leave our nursery.
It's important to note that shipping can be a stressful experience for trees, often due to spending some days in transit. While most trees withstand this with little to no stress, some may experience leaf drop. Trees will generally recover quickly with some additional care, including proper watering.

FAQ
Yes some are slow, but most of them are strong growers, and some are fast by any standards. so don’t be under the illusion that natives take forever to make a show. BUT, plant a native and you could be responsible for a living thing that will last for a thousand years. Imagine that!
Yes they do. There are several big tree nurseries like us which supply natives. Our replant experience is overwhelmingly successful, takanaguarantee to supply you beautiful trees as ordered, in peak condition and to your satisfaction, every time.
We dig them out of our beautiful soft peat soil with our Terrasaws (like a chain saw), with big 1m square at top rootballs, about 800mm deep in a wedge, lift them with our machinery then wrap them in hessian or shrink wrap, and load them on to a Hiab or other transport. On arrival the hiab, or your own equipment lifts them to be placed directly into the hole, with the wrap holding the root ball together while the tree settles into its new home. We have a very high success rate, with a relatively low cost system.
